Custom Pole Barns & Post-Frame Storage

Build A Bome has been constructing custom pole barns and post-frame storage buildings across Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana with over three decades of combined experience. We specialize in agricultural buildings, equestrian facilities, workshops, and equipment storage structures built to handle demanding rural environments.

Post-frame construction—also called pole barn construction—uses vertical posts set into the ground or mounted on concrete piers to support the roof and walls. This method creates strong, cost-effective buildings that go up faster than traditional stick-built construction while providing the clear-span interiors farmers and property owners need.

We work one building at a time, which means your project receives our complete attention from planning through construction. Whether you need equipment storage for farm machinery or a stable for your livestock, we build custom pole barns sized and configured for how you'll actually use them.

Custom Pole Barns Built for Your Requirements

Custom pole barns adapt to different uses through design choices made during planning.

  • DOOR HEIGHT

Door height matters when you're storing tractors and combines—we can build with 14-foot or 16-foot door openings instead of standard 10-foot heights.

  • ROOF PITCH

Roof pitch affects both aesthetics and snow load capacity; a 12/12 pitch gives you steeper rooflines that shed snow and provide more interior volume.

  • CONCRETE APRONS

Concrete aprons at door openings create solid transitions between gravel drives and building interiors, preventing mud and erosion problems at entry points.

  • INTERIOR CONCRETE FLOORS

Interior concrete floors work well for workshops where you're working on equipment or need level surfaces for machinery. Dirt floors cost less and work fine for general storage where you're just parking equipment.

Our heavy-duty metal construction holds up better than wood in agricultural environments: rodents can't chew through steel panels, and moisture doesn't rot metal framing. The materials we select for custom pole barns are chosen specifically for durability in farm settings where buildings take daily wear from equipment, weather, and agricultural chemicals.

Post-Frame

Agricultural Buildings, Equestrian Buildings, & Farm Equipment Storage

Farmers, equestrians, and ranchers need agricultural buildings that protect both their beloved animals and expensive equipment from weather while providing easy access during planting and harvest seasons. A 40x60 custom pole barn gives you 2,400 square feet for tractors, implements, and supplies. Scale up to 60x80 and you're working with 4,800 square feet—enough for multiple pieces of equipment plus parts storage and a basic workshop area.

Equipment storage buildings should also be configured around the machinery you own—not vice versa. If you're storing a combine, the door height and interior clearance need to accommodate that specific piece of equipment. Hay storage requires good ventilation to prevent moisture problems, while chemical storage might need separate partitioned areas with proper ventilation and containment.

Post-frame storage buildings for agricultural use can include features like lean-to additions for covered equipment parking, cupolas or ridge vents for airflow, and reinforced framing for heavy snow loads. Our construction method handles these customizations without the cost penalties you'd face with conventional construction.

Custom Pole Barn Garages & Post-Frame Workshops

Post-frame garages and workshops serve property owners who need space for vehicles, hobbies, or small business operations. A custom pole barn garage works for classic car collections, RV storage, or covered vehicle repair space. The clear-span interiors mean you're not working around multiple support posts when parking or maneuvering vehicles.

Workshops benefit from the same open interior design, too. No matter what you're doing, post-frame construction gives you the space to arrange equipment efficiently. The sturdy framing supports overhead cranes or lifting equipment when your work requires moving heavy items.

These buildings can be finished to commercial standards if you're operating a business from your property. Insulation, HVAC, proper electrical service, and finished interiors all work with post-frame construction.

Why Choose Build A Bome for Your Custom Pole Barn

Building one structure at a time means we focus completely on your project: we don't split crews across multiple job sites or rush through construction to meet quotas. Your custom pole barn or post-frame storage building gets built properly because we have the time to do it right.

We serve property owners throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana who need durable buildings that perform reliably for decades. Our construction process starts with understanding what you're storing, how you'll use the building, and what site conditions we're working with. We answer questions, explain your options, and help you make decisions that balance features against budget.
